Cyprus is set for one of its busiest weekends of the season, with festivals, concerts and community events running across the island, as reported by Cyprus Mail.

In Nicosia, the latest edition of Queer Wave 2026 is already under way at NiMAC, bringing film screenings, discussions, parties and installations to the city centre. In Limassol, the 14th interdisciplinary literature festival SARDAM continues until September 27 with open mic nights, performances, author discussions and workshops.

Also in Limassol, ETKO hosts the BEONIX Festival from September 25 to 27, featuring international DJs and electronic music acts alongside immersive stages and audio-visual shows. The city's beloved Limassol Wine Festival returns for its 64th year from September 26 to October 4, filling the Municipal Garden with winemakers, artists, musicians and traditional producers each night.

On the coast, the 42nd Ayia Napa International Festival runs from September 25 to 27 at Giorgos Seferis Central Square with handicrafts, food and concerts, while the Larnaca Beer Festival takes over Zouhouri Square on September 26 and 27 with free entrance. In Paphos, the Ecstatic Dance Festival at Val's Place in Gialia runs from September 27 to October 2 with dance parties, DJs, workshops and wellness activities.

Music highlights include guitarist Dominic Miller bringing The Vagabond Tour to Axiothea Mansion for the 29th Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus, and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra's Opera Night at Pallas Theatre, where the competition winner will be announced. The Stavros Lantsias Piano Trio+ performs at Rialto Theatre on September 25 and Axiothea Mansion the following evening, while The Symphonians play the music of Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi in Paphos and Strovolos. A Fleetwood Mac tribute marks the band's 60-year legacy at Pissouri Amphitheatre on September 26, and the annual Moonwalk returns to Protaras on September 27 with more than 130 musicians across 31 stages along a 6km coastal route.

Elsewhere, Starlit Screens hosts a Pizza & Movie night at Parekklisia beach on September 25, the Long Stay Legends Dog Show 2026 raises awareness for shelter dogs in Emba on September 26, and the Pano Akourdaleia Artisan Market runs on September 27. Pingy Pongo for Peace at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia also takes place on September 27 with a friendly table tennis tournament and language practice.

What it means for residents

With so much happening at once, the main impact for residents will be on traffic, parking and evening noise in the busiest districts, and on the wallet for those planning to attend several paid events.

  • Plan around traffic. Limassol's seafront and Municipal Garden, Ayia Napa square and Protaras promenade will be congested in the evenings, so allow extra travel time or use taxis and buses.
  • Check entry rules. Some events are free, such as the Larnaca Beer Festival and the Ayia Napa festival concerts, while others require tickets or passes — confirm before heading out.
  • Book early for dining and stays. Venues near festival sites in Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa will fill up, so reserve tables and accommodation in advance.
