Cyprus will switch to winter time in the early hours of Sunday, October 25, when clocks are moved back by one hour. According to the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, the handover happens at 4am, when time reverts to 3am.

The measure, reported by the Cyprus News Agency, covers every member state of the European Union. Summer time is due to return on the final Sunday of March.

The legal basis is a decree printed in the Republic's Official Gazette on July 9, 2021 — Part III(I), No. 5563, Regulatory Administrative Act 293/2021, paragraph (e).

What it means for residents

The shift is routine but it touches sleep, school runs and evening plans, so a little preparation on Saturday helps.

  • Reset devices manually. Phones and computers usually adjust on their own, but ovens, cars and wall clocks will not — check them before Monday morning.
  • Expect darker evenings. Sunset arrives roughly an hour earlier, so drivers should be ready for dusk falling during the afternoon commute.
  • Mind the Sunday timetable. Buses, ferries and flights keep their published times, which now correspond to a different hour on the clock.
