Storms cut power to several Paphos districts
Heavy weather knocked out electricity in communities across the Paphos region on Wednesday afternoon, with repair crews dispatched to restore supply.
Several communities in the Paphos district lost electricity on Wednesday afternoon when severe weather swept across Cyprus, as reported by the Cyprus Mail.
According to EAC spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou, the outage affected Kato and Pano Arodes, Ineia, Kathikas, Peyia, Acheleia, Koloni, Geroskipou and Akoursos.
Electricity Authority of Cyprus teams have been sent out to repair the damaged network.
What it means for residents
A power cut in these hill villages and coastal suburbs disrupts more than lighting: pumps, fridges and internet routers go down with it, and rural roads in bad weather are best avoided while crews work.
- Check on neighbours. Elderly residents and anyone relying on powered medical equipment may need help until supply returns.
- Protect food and devices. Keep fridge doors shut and unplug sensitive electronics to avoid damage when the current comes back.
- Report faults directly. Contact the EAC if your area is still dark after the weather clears, rather than assuming it is already logged.
