Cyprus can expect mostly clear weather through Saturday, with temperatures near seasonal norms. Unsettled conditions may arrive on Sunday and Monday afternoons.

According to the Cyprus Mail, the coming days will be largely dry, with only local cloud forming after lunchtime on Friday. Inland and on the south and east coasts the mercury should climb to roughly 30 degrees Celsius, while the remaining coasts see about 29 and the higher mountain areas around 20.

Winds will blow from the northwest to northeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, shifting to southwesterly to northwesterly in the southwest during the afternoon, with a smooth to slight sea. Saturday stays mainly fine, though some temporary cloud is expected later in the day.

Sunday and Monday begin bright, but cloud that gathers after midday could produce isolated showers or a thunderstorm, chiefly over the mountains and parts of the interior. Temperatures hold close to average until Sunday, then dip a little on Monday.

What it means for residents

For most people the weekend still looks good for the beach, a hike or getting laundry dry. The shift comes later, so plan outdoor activities with the afternoon in mind.

  • Sunday and Monday afternoons: keep an eye on the sky if you are heading into the mountains or inland — a sudden shower or storm can catch you out.
  • Monday: a slightly cooler day, so a light layer may be useful, especially in the hills.
  • Driving: if a storm builds, expect brief poor visibility and wet roads on mountain routes.
