Water main break disrupts supply across Limassol streets
A burst pipe has left dozens of Limassol streets without water, with the Limassol District Local Government Organisation expecting supplies back around 4pm on Monday.
A damaged water main has left parts of the Limassol municipality without running water, as reported by the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (DLGO). Repair teams are on site working to fix the break.
Residents on more than 30 streets — including Agias Fylaxeos, Achaion, Grigori Afxentiou, Poseidonos and Victor Hugo — are affected. The DLGO said supply should be restored at approximately 4pm on Monday.
The full list of impacted roads runs from Panagioti Diomidous and Voreiou Ipeirou through Ethnikis Antistaseos, Agiou Spyridonos, Nikolaou Giangou, Thessalonikis and Lelas Karagianni, among others.
What it means for residents
If your street is on the list, tap water will be off for much of the day, so it is worth planning around the outage rather than waiting for it to pass.
- Store water early. Fill a few bottles or containers before taps run dry, especially if you need water for cooking, drinking or pets.
- Avoid running appliances. Washing machines, dishwashers and boilers should stay off until pressure returns — running them on an empty or low supply can cause damage.
- Expect cloudy water at first. When supply comes back, let taps run for a few minutes before using the water, as sediment often gets stirred up during repairs.
