Roadworks on the Limassol-Paphos motorway are causing serious congestion for traffic heading towards Paphos, according to Cyprus Mail. Police said vehicles are being sent onto secondary roads at the Agia Varvara exit, while drivers bound for Paphos can also leave at the Anatoliko exit.

Officers are asking motorists to slow down, obey the directions given by police on the ground and stick to the traffic arrangements currently in force.

Editorial note

What it means for residents

Anyone with plans on the Paphos side of the island should treat the motorway as a slow option for now and factor in extra time, especially during peak hours.

  • Plan around the exits. Leaving at Agia Varvara or Anatoliko keeps you moving instead of sitting in the queue on the main carriageway.
  • Watch for police on the ground. Directions from officers may differ from what your navigation app suggests.
  • Allow more time. Secondary roads through villages are slower and can get busy when traffic is diverted.
