Storms have disrupted electricity supply in the mountainous parts of Limassol and in several communities of the Larnaca district, according to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). Repair teams are still tracking down and fixing the damaged sections of the network.

Households in Skarinou, Choirokoitia and Ayios Theodoros should have power again by 11am, the EAC said. In the Limassol mountain areas hit by the outages, the authority expects supply to be restored by 11.30am.

The EAC has urged the public to check its announcements in case the restoration timetable shifts.

Editorial note

What it means for residents

For households in the affected villages and mountain communities, the morning revolves around the announced restoration times: lifts, water pumps, internet routers and anything else that depends on mains power stay idle until then. Those relying on electrically powered medical equipment should have a backup plan ready.

  • Check the clock. Supply is expected back by 11am in the three Larnaca district villages and by 11.30am in the Limassol mountain areas.
  • Watch for updates. The EAC says the timetable may change, so follow its announcements rather than assuming the times are fixed.
  • Report lasting faults. If power has not returned after the stated time, contact the EAC so crews know where the problem persists.
