Agros is a mountain village in Pitsilia, on the slopes of Troodos. It grows the Damask rose and turns it into rosewater, and it is known for cured meats such as lountza and hiromeri, homemade marmalades and sweets.
Local workshops let you see rose distillation and meat curing and taste the products on the spot. The Rose Festival takes place in May, and a Christmas village runs from late November to Epiphany.

What Agros is known for
Roses come first in Agros. The village has made rosewater since the early 20th century, and in 2024 Agros rosewater was added to the EU register of protected geographical indications: it is made from whole flowers of an aromatic rose.
The second craft is cured meat. Since 2021 Pitsilia hiromeri, lountza and loukaniko have also been protected in the EU. The meat matures with salt and local wine and is smoked over wood.
The Rose Festival takes place in May. In 2026 it ran over two weekends: workshops opened to visitors, and on the second Sunday there was a rose picking at dawn.
What to see
The church of Timios Prodromos (St John the Baptist) was built around 1860; the community council says no church in Cyprus is longer. Its old olive mill is now a small folk art museum.
Walking trails start from the village: the linear Agros – Madari trail (3 km, about 3 hours), Lagoudera – Agros (6 km, 2.5 hours) and the circular Agros – Kato Mylos trail (6 km, about 2 hours) through vineyards, orchards and rose fields.
Getting there
Bus route 50 links Agros with Limassol via Agios Ioannis and Kalo Chorio. Route 64 runs from Agros via Palaichori, Agia Sotira and Apliki to Agios Epifanios. Check the timetable before you travel.
