Kyperounta is a leafy village in Pitsilia, on the slopes of Troodos, and the third highest on the island. It is known for its apples, wine and traditional cold meats.
The village dates from Byzantine times. Its mountain climate led the British to build a tuberculosis sanatorium here in the 1930s, which today serves as the Troodos Hospital. There is a hotel, agrotourism houses and several places to eat.

What Kyperounta is known for
Kyperounta is the apple village of Cyprus: thanks to its altitude and cool climate it grows about 75 per cent of the island's apples.
The village holds an Apple Festival in October. In 2026 the Big 7 Travel site named it one of the 25 best autumn food festivals in Europe. The festival has a market of apples and local products, a display of apple varieties, palouze made from apple juice and zivania distilled from apples on the spot; museums and churches open for the occasion.
What to see
The village has museums of natural history, folk art and the National Liberation Struggle. Besides Agia Marina, look for the church of Timios Stavros and the new church of Agios Arsenios.
Walking trails here include Doxa soi o Theos and Teisia tis Madaris, and there is also the Adventure Mountain Park.
