Route and road closures
The marathon and half marathon run east from Finikoudes to a turning point before the Palm Beach Hotel roundabout, then along Larnaka–Dhekelia Avenue, through Makariou Avenue and Zinonos Kitieos Street to the church of St Lazarus, through the Turkish Cypriot quarter and onto the coastal Piale Pasha Street. Marathon runners do this loop twice, then run along Artemidos Avenue past the Salt Lake and return past the medieval castle to Finikoudes. The 10 km race covers the eastern part of the town to a turning point past the Livadia roundabout and comes back through the centre.
As of 31 October, the police have not announced road closures. Under the organiser’s rules, the police hand the course back to traffic six hours after the start, so roads along the marathon route are closed until about 13:00. The kids’ race also starts at Finikoudes at 13:00. We will update this article when the police notice and bus diversions are published.
