According to Cyprus Mail, a low-pressure system will keep the island under unsettled weather through Thursday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms forecast daily. Temperatures are expected to gradually decline to slightly below the seasonal average.

Monday will see localised cloud build-up, with isolated showers or storms first appearing in the west before spreading to the mountains, inland areas and the southeast. Inland and the south and east coasts will reach around 28 degrees Celsius, other coastal areas around 26, and the higher mountains about 18.

Southwesterly to northwesterly winds will be moderate to strong, force four to five, briefly very strong, force six, on windward coasts during the afternoon, with seas slight to rough. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring afternoon cloud and isolated showers or thunderstorms, while Thursday is expected to see rain in places along with isolated storms.

Editorial note

What it means for residents

The coming days will affect daily routines across the island, from commuting to outdoor plans and household chores.

  • Travel: Wet roads and reduced visibility during storms mean drivers should allow extra time and take care, especially on mountain routes.
  • Outdoor plans: Anyone planning activities in the afternoon should keep an eye on the sky, as storms can develop quickly over the mountains and inland.
  • Home and garden: Secure loose items on balconies and terraces before the stronger winds arrive, and check drainage around properties.
