A 20-year-old motorcyclist was attacked and robbed in Limassol in the early hours of Thursday, as reported by Cyprus Mail. Two men on foot blocked his way on a street in the Agia Zoni area at around 12.20am and produced a knife.

When the rider would not hand over the machine, one of the pair knocked him to the ground while the other rode off on it, according to his statement to Limassol CID. The first man then took the cash the young man was carrying and left on foot.

Officers have examined the scene and are working to trace the two suspects, who are still being sought.

Editorial note

What it means for residents

For anyone who relies on a motorbike to get around, especially on night shifts or late errands, the case is a reminder that quiet side streets after midnight carry their own risks. Two-wheelers are easy to take once the rider is off them, and cash carried on the person is gone with no trace.

  • Plan night routes Prefer well-lit main roads and busier junctions over empty back streets when riding late.
  • Secure the bike Use a lock and, where possible, leave the machine in a closed yard or garage overnight rather than on the street.
  • Report quickly Note the time, spot and any description, and contact police straight away — early reports help patrols in the area.
