The National Guard will conduct firing practice with artillery and multiple rocket launchers in the waters off Larnaca over three days, from Tuesday 10 November through Thursday 12 November, according to the Cyprus Mail. The drills are set in the maritime area of the “Kiti” range and form part of routine training, the National Guard General Staff said.

Access to the range will be prohibited throughout the exercise period for safety reasons. Anyone planning to be on the water or along that coastal stretch during those dates should stay clear of the designated zone.

Editorial note

What it means for residents

For three days, a section of sea near Kiti will be off limits, which matters most to people who fish, sail or swim in that area and to anyone whose work depends on those waters.

  • Boaters and anglers: plan around the closure and keep well away from the marked range zone between November 10 and 12.
  • Coastal visitors: expect possible noise from the firing and choose another beach if you want quiet.
  • Before heading out: check for any local notices or updates from the authorities on the day.
