Akamas forest road shut for resurfacing until 30 November
The Department of Forests has closed the trail from the Baths of Aphrodite to Fontana Amorosa in Akamas National Forest Park for surface repairs starting Monday.
The Department of Forests has shut the forest track running from the Baths of Aphrodite to Fontana Amorosa, inside the Akamas National Forest Park, from Monday 9 November through Monday 30 November. The closure allows crews to carry out maintenance on the road surface, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
The department said it regrets any disruption caused by the measure, adding that “the works are deemed absolutely necessary”.
A fresh announcement will follow once repairs are finished, or sooner should the schedule be pushed back.
What it means for residents
For three weeks the most popular walking and driving line through Akamas is cut, so weekend plans around the Baths of Aphrodite need rethinking — the closure covers the whole stretch, not a short detour.
- Walkers: choose other trails in the park and check the department's notices before setting out.
- Drivers and tour operators: drop Fontana Amorosa from itineraries until the track reopens.
- Watch for updates: the end date could move if the work runs longer than planned.
